Is it worth it to buy land through websites like Zillow rather than doing a mail campaign?
It depends on what you’re planning to do with the property. If your goal is to do nothing to it and just flip it for a profit, you’ll probably find it quite difficult to get anything at a low enough price to leave enough room for the profit margins you’ll need. Not impossible, but much more difficult than the opportunities you’ll find through a well-executed direct mail campaign.
On the other hand, if you’re planning to use it yourself and/or alter the property in some way to add more value, I think there are plenty of situations where a higher price can be justified… but if that’s not the route you’re planning to go, I would stick to direct mail, or some other effective means to finding off-market deals.
