My question is what is the safest and most secure way to take payment when selling on Craigslist?
@scottnichols using a title company is technically the safest way (that’s how almost all real estate transactions are handled, and it even comes with insurance), but if you’re self-closing, you have a few options…
- Use a mobile notary to exchange the cashier’s check for the deed
- Meet the other party in person to do the exchange
- Use an escrow service like Safe Funds to do the exchange
Every method has drawbacks, so you just have to pick which one you’re most comfortable with.
