Have any of you ever split your direct mail campaign, like sending half letters and half postcards, to get an idea of which one will work better or get better responses?
Yes. It costs more in postage for letters than postcards. I’ve experimented with this, and even handwritten letters when I first began land flipping. I got the most results out of handwritten letters. Thought of hiring someone to handwrite going forward, but never got around to that.
Postcards work great too, as long as your design isn’t too Salesy but shows a benefit of some sort for them. I’ve gotten most calls off my postcards, but not all convert. I keep a list of those needing follow up. Letters seem to be like so many others and callers from those tend to want to compare offers. I’ve tried blind offers and got nowhere. It seems most calls come from simplicity and not over-doing things.
